Research into eco-friendly wood-preserving coatings
The development of novel, environmentally friendly wood-preserving coatings for wooden weather-exposed structural parts based on functionalised plasma coatings as well as appro-priate application technologies are the goal of a current research project at the IHD.
Recyclable design of functional fittings
Following the call for promoted projects relating to the “Recyclable use of wood at the Agency for Renewable Resources” (Fachagentur Nachwachsende Rohstoffe/FNR), the IHD has submitted a project outline jointly with the Fraunhofer Institute for Wood Research (HOFZET®). The topic of the project is the “Recyclable design of functional fittings for boxed furniture”.
New Thermodesorption Gas Chromatography Combination at the IHD
Thanks to support by the Saxon State Ministry for Economic Affairs and Labour (SMWA), the IHD was recently able to expand its fleet of analytical equipment by a thermodesorption gas chromatography combination with a mass spectrometric detector (TDS-GC-MS).
3rd Place at 27th Saxon Prize Award in Forming Technology 2021
The Dr. Rolf Umbach Prize has been offered and awarded every year since 1995 to promote innovative accomplishments of junior up-and-coming researchers in the field of forming engineering.
Good testimony to natural insulating materials
The joint project “More than just insulation – added value by insulating materials made from renewable resources” (NawaRo insulating materials), which was launched in 2016 and in which the IHD was extensively involved, was recently completed.
Increasing density-related strengths of particleboards
In 2018, the EPF member states produced approx. 31.3 million m³ of particleboard in Europe.
